News THine Announces Yamaichi Electronics’ Development of Connector for THine’s Next-Generation High-Speed Interface Specification, V-by-One® US

2018.05.29 Release
TOKYO (May 29, 2018) – THine Electronics, Inc. (JASDAQ: 6769), the global leader in high-speed serial interface and provider of mixed-signal LSI, has been collaborating with several partners in development of transmission lines for THine’s next-generation high-speed interface specification for 4K and 8K video images, V-by-One® US, and Yamaichi Electronics Co., Ltd. *1, one of THine’s partners, has developed connector that complies with V-by-One® US specification.  Yamaichi plans to deliver the product within 2018.

THine has established V-by-One® US specification as a next-generation high-speed interface technology that follows THine’s high-speed interface technology V-by-One® HS, which is now used as interface in most of 4K televisions in the world as de facto standard.  V-by-One® US specification defines high-speed transmission rate of 16Gbps per lane at the maximum (16,000,000,000 bits per second), and high-speed transmission as quadruple as V-by-One® HS will be possible according to the specification.  In order to accomplish transmission lines for 8K video images by V-by-One® US while maintaining the number of transmission lines for transmission of 4K video images by V-by-One® HS, THine has been collaborating in development of transmission lines with several harness, connector, and material manufacturers who agree to standardization of V-by-One® US technology.

While Yamaichi has developed high-speed-transmission FPC (Flexible Printed Circuits) cable “YFCS Series” *2 that complies with V-by-One® US specification, high-speed-transmission connector “HF507S-U Series” incorporating its high-speed-transmission technology has been confirmed to be comply with V-by-One® US specification.  “HF507S-U Series” connector is designed to realize optimum performance of transmission of V-by-One® US signals in combination with Yamaichi’s FPC cable “YFCS Series,” providing transmission lines with low crosstalk noise, low transmission loss, and impedance matching, which are necessary for multi-channel high-speed transmission line.  The number of cores of receptacle of “HF507S-U Series” connector is 41 and 51 and “cable direct insertion type” and “cable insertion type with adopter” will be provided.  Moreover, “HF507S-U Series” connector can fit with general-purpose FPC cable and FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) having the cable shape specified by Yamaichi.

“It seems that customers in such areas as Japan, Korea, China, and Taiwan are accelerating development of 8K video equipment in this year.  Under such circumstances, THine plans to release ASSP product incorporating V-by-One® US technology in 2018, and would like to welcome new connector that complies with V-by-One® US specification.  This helps customers select connector for V-by-One® US from several connector manufacturers.

As 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games and 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games are approaching, THine will continue to expand collaboration with harness, connector, and material manufacturers who agree to standardization of V-by-One® US technology, and will propose low-cost 4K and 8K video image transmission systems by V-by-One® US.  THine aims to contribute to customers and innovation of video image market as a leading company of high-speed interface technology,” says Yasuhiro Takada, CEO of THine Electronics.
