V-by-One® HS plus is the advanced high-speed serial interface standard as the succeeding technology of V-by-One® HS. It supports today’s requirements of higher resolution such like 4K/8K and higher refresh rate over 120Hz on high-speed video inter connect with the transmission technology up to 8Gbps/lane. With this advanced technology, smarter system and higher energy efficiency can be archived in LCD/OLED TV or embedded display application through smaller cables/connectors and smaller pin count of video processor IC/Timing controller IC. The specification of V-by-One® HS plus are defined as a standard and licensed by THine Electronics, Inc. through its license program.
Overview of V-by-One® HS plus Standard
V-by-One® HS plus Standard includes whole specification of V-by-One® HS Standard. V-by-One® HS plus Standard has two modes: 1) “HS plus Mode” with data rate of up to 8Gbps/lane and 2) “HS Mode” fully compatible to the latest version of V-by-One® HS Standard. Each Mode has no compatibility each other. User selects and implements either or both of those Modes.
Features of V-by-One® HS plus Standard and comparison with V-by-One® HS
V-by-One® HS plus Standard follows V-by-One® HS Standard, including basic protocols, design concept, so that users have little hurdles in switching from V-by-One® HS. Furthermore, users can enjoy its value in higher data rates up to 8Gbps/lane, reference equalizer, and newly provided channel specification of high-speed data lane.
V-by-One® HS plus License Program
V-by-One® HS plus License Program is offered by THine Electronics, Inc. Licensees of V-by-One® HS plus can access the latest version of V-by-One® HS plus Standard. 4 types of the license are ready for users by the purpose of using V-by-One® HS plus Standard, “Standard User”, “IC Developer”, “IP Developer” and “FPGA IP Developer” as in the following table.
Standard User
This type of license is for users for viewing V-by-One® HS plus Standard. The licensee can access the latest Standard, use trademark of “V-by-One® HS plus” and its logo mark, and apply third party’s FPGA IP products into FPGA on user’s own products. It is suitable for the users who evaluate or use IC products or FPGA IP products conforming to V-by-One® HS plus. Only Base Fee is payable for this license. For clarify, users who do not need to access V-by-One® HS plus Standard do not have to apply license in case that the users use IC products of THine or third party authorized by THine as V-by-One® HS plus licensee.IC Developer
This type of license is for users for developing, manufacturing and selling IC products that incorporate V-by-One® HS plus Standard. This license includes all kind of rights granted in “Standard User” license. Users who implement third party IP products conforming to V-by-One® HS plus are also required to be this type of licensee. In addition to Base Fee, Additional License Fee defined by each user is payable for this license.IP Developer
This type of license is for users for developing, and selling IP products that incorporate V-by-One® HS plus Standard. This license includes all kind of rights granted in “Standard User” license. This license, however, does not include any right to develop and sell IP products that can be applied in FPGA. In addition to Base Fee, Additional License Fee defined by each user is payable for this license.FPGA IP Developer
This type of license is for users for developing, and selling FPGA IP products that incorporate V-by-One® HS plus Standard. This license includes all kind of rights granted in “Standard User” license. This license, however, does not include any right to develop and sell IP products that can be applied in IC products excluding FPGA. In addition to Base Fee, Additional License Fee defined by each user is payable for this license.How to join in V-by-One® HS plus License Program
Fill in the application form for the license. After receiving, THine will check it and ask detailed background of the application. Please note that the application could be declined for some reason. The license is effective after entering into the agreement. Once entered, the invoice for the first license fee is issued by THine. Please pay the license fee according to the invoice. The agreement will be deemed null and void in case that the payment is not made by the specified due date regardless of its expiration date.

The 1st term of Agreement is from Effective Date of Agreement to the end of the current year or the end of the following year, depending on the month of Effective Date.

For which type of Licensee?: IC Developer -
No, Licensee will not be allowed to do them after termination of Agreement.
However, if the Agreement terminates due to THine's cause, Licensee will be able to manufacture and sell the products by paying the prescribed fee. - 3. Our company wants to develop a product that is compliant with V-by-One® HS, not V-by-One® HS plus. Do we still need a V-by-One® HS plus license in this case?

Yes, your company has to join in "V-by-One® HS plus" License Program in order to use the intellectual property related to the Standard.
"V-by-One® HS plus Standard" follows conventional V-by-One® HS Standard whose License Program ended with the new release of "V-by-One® HS plus" License Program.
The "HS mode" in "V-by-One® HS plus Standard" is fully compatible to the latest version of V-by-One® HS Standard.
