THine unveils an advanced Ser/Des chipset by V-by-One(TM) technology
V-by-One(TM) reduces number of cables by 90% and extends transmission of digital pixel data up to 10m
THine Electronics, Inc. (JASDAQ:6769), the global leader in mixed-signal LSI for flat panel displays, unveiled today an advanced Ser/Des interface chipset by V-by-One(TM)(*) technology, THCV213/214, distributing engineering samples from the third quarter, starting volume production in the fourth quarter.
V-by-One(TM), THine's original technology, enables to transmit digital data, typically pixel data, for a long distance up to ten meters without signal degradation through just a single differential cable. It can drastically reduce number of cables by more than 90% and also decrease the costs and space of cable connectors. In addition, since V-by-One(TM) does not require heavy and thick cables, it can decrease the burden of cable weight in larger systems.
As the first lineups, THine releases the chipset of THCV213 and THCV214 for broad growing markets. Target applications are typically automotive cameras, consumer electronics with digital pictures, and security cameras that require real-time transmissions of pixel data from CCD/CMOS cameras.
THine's original technology removes reference clocks for receiver. Furthermore, V-by-One(TM) enables to change transmitting frequencies at any rates according to the required resolution. System vender and display panel manufactures can reduce the engineering costs by simplifying their systems, minimizing the number of cables or related parts, and shortening the developing terms without any consideration on specified frequencies. THCV213 and THCV214 can save inner space of digital still cameras, digital camcorders, scanners with CCD or multi-functional printers, robots with security cameras, point-of-sales systems, automated teller machines, and so on.
THine will start selling THCV213 and THCV214 chipset firstly to advanced car multimedia markets, developing new products for other potential markets based on their sensitivity of more real-time, longer and larger data transmission. THCV213 and THCV214, based on CMOS process, achieve significant cost/performance as well as future capabilities of higher speed, more bit rate, and integration with other functions to satisfying growing markets' needs.
