FHP Incorporates THine's 30bit LVDS into New PDP Products
THine starts mass production of industries' first 30bit color-ready LVDS products
THine Electronics, Inc. (JASDAQ:6769), the global leader in mixed-signal LSIs for flat panel displays, announced today that Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display Limited (FHP), the world's largest PDP module manufacturer, incorporated THine's THC63LVD104 receiver, the industry's highest quality LVDS product in 30bit color depth and processing speed, into its latest PDP series (42V, 37V, and 32V) with ALIS method.
The THC63LVD104 has a unique feature: the picture color data of each of the three primary colors have a 10bit color depth. In addition, this product allows one-chip single link interface in 30bit RGB color system (i.e., 1,024 colors for each of red, green, and blue) in PDP and LCD television, converting 35bits of LVDS(*1) data (30bits of RGB data and 5bits of timing and control data) into CMOS/TTL data streams at a dot clock frequency of 90MHz.
Furthermore, since the THC63LVD104 covers a wide rage of frequencies, even including the lower frequency television signals that previous products could not respond to, it can be used not only for flat televisions but also for consumer digital televisions. Many television sets have already included digital processing systems of picture data using 10bit color depth. These television systems tend to be complicated because of the increasing cable wiring in data transmission between tuners and monitors, whereas the THC63LVD104 offers a simpler solution by integrating all interfaces of 30bit color system in one pair of chip sets.
FHP, the global PDP leader in technologies and stable production, is the first manufacturer of PDP that can show HDTV pictures in Japan as well as being Japan's only module-focused PDP manufacturer. THine, cooperated by FHP, designed and developed functions of the THC63LVD104. FHP rates this LVDS product highly as "one of the newly selected technologies for achieving higher quality in HDTV."
THine's strategy is to form a close relationship with leading technology customers such as FHP, to build horizontal partnerships, and to supply better key devices for customer satisfaction. Launching this product brings substantial value to both companies. In addition, this 30bit LVDS product represents a symbolic trigger entering aggressively into the consumer digital electronics market, not only in PC related markets. THine plans to distribute this product widely in order to deliver more value in HDTV markets.
