THine unveils its Powerlinker(TM) series for complicated power management
THine Electronics, Inc. (JASDAQ:6769) today unveiled its Powerlinker(TM)(*1), a DC/DC converter(*2) series, suitable for complicated power management of controlling multiple power output channels in flat panel displays and flat television. The engineering samples will be available from this fourth quarter.
Powerlinker(TM), the newly developed DC/DC converter series, can precisely control multiple channels of power supply in flat television sets. Many flat television manufactures recently require reliable sequence of power-on among multiple channels of power management ICs while such control becomes more complicated. Powerlinker(TM) enables TV manufactures and flat panel manufactures to solve such complicated problems and, furthermore, to set up easily to link operations among power supply as the need of systems' abnormal shut down.
Recent large-sized flat panel markets require reliable power management since the panel qualities improve with complicated inner systems. For instance, TV sets' circuit boards of graphical engines have become more complicated since large-sized graphical LSIs for enhancing qualities of moving pictures have need multiple power sources with various different voltages. TV manufactures usually set up different timings of power-on in order to achieve right sequences among different power sources, resulting in more external parts and spaces on the graphic boards. Such a timing controlling method has possible serious risks of inaccurate operations among power management ICs when a power management IC can work regardless if the preceding ICs actually work or not. In addition, TV manufactures require reliable protection of costly graphical LSIs in abnormal situations even if they need complicated preparations. Furthermore, "beating" problems, caused by slight differences of multiple power IC's frequencies, become more serious.
¡¡THine planned and developed Powerlinker(TM) to solve customers' bottlenecks in complicated power management in inner circuit boards by experienced THine's team of power management IC, focusing on the application specific standard products (ASSP) in flat panel display markets and will distribute engineering samples from the early fourth quarter. Flat television manufactures and panel makers can drastically enhance the reliability in sequence controls of power-on as well as make power management IC's works linked to outer power related circuits without adding parts even for abnormal shut out. These features are expected to reduce related board space by 40% as maximum, reduce customers' part lists, increase reliability of power related system, and solve deteriorating problem by interferences of beating frequencies among channels.

¡İSecured sequence among multiple channels can be easily controlled.
¡İThe secured sequence control and linked shutdown for multiple outputs channels of DC/DC converter is also available with Powerlinker(TM) without additional external components.
¡İInstead of UVLO(*3) in usual channel, System UVLO can detect the abnormal input voltage.
Its detection voltage is adjustable by setting the external resister, which realize the protection circuit for individual necessity on each system.
¡İSelectable Boost/Buck/Inverting function on channels can generates various necessary output voltage.
¡İAppropriately shifted phase on each switching channels reduces noise returning to input side.
¡İSoft start time seting independent to load current.
¡İDTC(*4) control available.
¡İAvailable preferred oscillation frequency and Timer Latch time setting by external components.
¡İInput voltage range from 4.2V to 15V (max.24V version, under development)

(*3) UVLO : Under Voltage Lock Out. The function to stop the IC operation when the voltage dropped under the detection voltage
(*4) DTC : Dead Time Control. Control the driving duty.
